Urinary Tract infections
Overview
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of your urinary system.
The urinary system includes kidneys,ureters, bladder and the urethra.
Around 25-30% of women between 20-40 years of age will get UTI

Risk Factors of Urinary Tract Infection
- Use of Intrauterine device (UID)
- Kidney stonesor an enlarged prostate
- Infection caused due to decline in circulating estrogen after menopause
- Sexually active women
- Diabetes and other diseases that impair the immune system
- People who can't urinate on their own and use a tube (catheter) to urinate have an increased risk of UTI's

Drink Plenty of water
Avoid Coffee alcohol and Soft drinks containing citrus or caffeine juices
Apply a warm but not hot, heating pad to your abdomen
Drink Cranberry juice
Tips(for women) To prevent Urinary Tract Infection
- After a bowel movement or after urinating, wipe from front to back.
- Wash the skin around the anus and genital area.
- Avoid using powder, and deodorant sprays.
- Empty your bladder as soon as you feel the urge or about every 2-3 hours.
- Try to empty your bladder before and after sex.
- Wear Underwear with a cotton crotch.
